Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Legacy Studio (“the platform”), operated by Lineage Finance, Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Legacy Studio is a platform for end-of-life doulas, legacy facilitators, and similar practitioners. It helps you turn recorded interviews with clients into written and video keepsakes, including letters, memoir chapters, milestone letters, and memorial videos. The platform uses AI to transcribe recordings, analyze speech patterns, and generate first drafts of written deliverables. All AI-generated content is reviewed and edited by you, the practitioner, before delivery.

Legacy Studio is a tool. It does not provide medical, legal, therapeutic, or financial advice. It does not replace the judgment, care, or presence of a trained practitioner.

You must create an account to use the platform. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@doulalegacy.com.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate information when creating your account. One person, one account. Accounts are not transferable.

You are responsible for obtaining informed consent from your clients before uploading their recordings to Legacy Studio. This includes consent for recording, AI transcription and analysis, AI-assisted writing using their voice profile, sharing deliverables with designated family members, and posthumous delivery of milestone letters (if applicable).

Legacy Studio provides a consent tracking system to help you document consent, but the obligation to obtain consent rests with you. We are not a party to the relationship between you and your client.

AI-generated drafts are starting points, not finished products. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content for accuracy, tone, and appropriateness before sharing it with clients or their families. If the AI gets something wrong, that is expected. If you deliver something wrong without reviewing it, that is on you.

We flag low-confidence passages in AI-generated drafts to help you focus your review. These flags are helpful but not exhaustive. Always read the full draft.

You agree to use Legacy Studio in a manner consistent with the professional and ethical standards of your field. You will not use the platform to create content that misrepresents a client's words or intentions, fabricate stories or memories that did not come from the client, harass, deceive, or cause harm to any person, or violate any applicable law or regulation.

You and your clients own the content created through Legacy Studio. This includes audio recordings, transcripts, voice profiles, letters, memoir chapters, milestone letters, photos, videos, and any other materials uploaded to or generated through the platform.

We do not claim ownership of your content. We do not use your content for marketing, advertising, or AI model training.

By uploading content to Legacy Studio, you grant us a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display that content as necessary to operate the platform. This includes sending recordings to our transcription provider, sending transcripts to our AI provider for voice analysis and drafting, rendering PDFs and videos, delivering milestone letters via email, and displaying deliverables on family portals.

This license exists solely to provide the service. It ends when you delete your content or close your account, except for milestone letters that have been approved and scheduled for future delivery.

The Legacy Studio platform, including its design, code, AI prompts, and underlying technology, belongs to us. These terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond the right to use the platform as described here.

You may create private family portals to share deliverables with your client's designated family members. You control what appears on each portal, whether it is published or unpublished, whether it requires a password, and whether family members can contribute memories.

Portal links include a random identifier that makes them difficult to guess, but they are not encrypted communications. Anyone with the link (and password, if set) can view the portal. You are responsible for sharing portal links only with intended recipients.

Family contributions (text, photos, voice memos) are held in moderation until you approve them. You are responsible for reviewing contributions before they appear on the portal.

Legacy Studio can deliver letters on specific future dates. Once you approve a milestone letter for delivery, we will make reasonable efforts to deliver it on the scheduled date. We are not liable for delivery failures caused by invalid email addresses, email provider filtering, or circumstances beyond our control.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a milestone delivery, you can do so at any time before the delivery date through the platform.

You agree not to use Legacy Studio to upload content that you do not have the right to share, attempt to access another practitioner's data, reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the platform's operation, upload malicious files or code, use the platform for any purpose other than its intended use as a legacy documentation tool, or resell access to the platform without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Legacy Studio's pricing is listed on our website and may change over time. We will give active subscribers at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect on their account.

Payments are processed through our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

We aim to keep Legacy Studio available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The platform depends on third-party providers for transcription, AI processing, video rendering, email delivery, and hosting. Outages or delays from these providers may affect your experience.

We will communicate planned maintenance and known outages through the platform or via email when possible.

Legacy Studio is provided “as is.” We make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy of AI-generated content, the suitability of the platform for any particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability of the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for the accuracy or appropriateness of content you deliver to clients or families without adequate review. We are not liable for emotional distress arising from the use or misuse of content created through the platform. The practitioner's professional judgment is the final safeguard.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legacy Studio, Lineage Finance, Inc., and our officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these terms, your failure to obtain proper consent from clients, or content you create, edit, or deliver through the platform.

You may close your account at any time. Upon closure, we will complete any approved milestone deliveries that are already scheduled, retain consent records and audit logs as required by law, and delete your remaining data within 30 days (encrypted backups may persist up to 90 days).

We may terminate your account if you violate these terms, if your account is inactive for more than 24 months, or if we discontinue the platform (with at least 90 days' notice and an opportunity to export your data).

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform will be resolved through binding arbitration in New York, NY, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations or data breaches.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you may close your account before they take effect.
